Bioservo Technologies expands its cooperation with Airbus

Bioservo Technologies AB, listed at First North, expands its cooperation with Airbus to include further development of Bioservo’s “Ironarm” concept. The target is to develop a wearable arm support system for workers in the Airbus production facilities. The first prototype of the “Ironarm” concept, based on Bioservo's patented SEM™ technology, will be available in the second quarter of 2018. In connection with this, Airbus has placed a first order for the prototype, which will be evaluated at the company's production facilities. “Our bionic SEM™ technology can be applied anywhere on the human body enhancing both strength and endurance. As a company, we have made a strategic decision to focus primarily on the upper limbs. That Airbus has decided to expand its cooperation with us and that we will jointly push the development of our “Ironarm” concept forward, is great. Since the autumn 2016, Bioservo and Airbus have a research and development cooperation regarding Bioservo's bionic glove for industrial use. Airbus along with many other companies in the industry faces major challenges regarding the working environment in the manufacturing process. Physically demanding tasks with raised arms for an extended period of time may cause strain injuries and other related problems. Airbus has a strong focus on improving the ergonomics in its production facilities and is therefore very interested in the opportunities offered by Bioservo’s SEM™ technology.
Bioservo already have a close co-operation with General Motors, Eiffage Infrastructures, JM and General Electric in order to develop a strength enhancing robotic glove suitable for industrial use. The technology is well suited to prevent musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) caused by repetitive or strenuous tasks. The idea behind Bioservo’s bionic glove is to give extra strength and endurance in the daily work.
